I encourage women business owners and entrepreneurs to check out this book. I think the author, Sheryl Sandberg (COO at Facebook) has some interesting perspectives to offer. (www.Leanin.org) While there seems to be those who are harshly criticizing her opinions, I think when you look deeper you will find wisdom in her ideas. In my review, I wondered if history wasn’t repeating itself and began to reflect back over a career that spans several decades. In that reflection, there was something that stood out. My career path has taken me into what was traditionally a “man’s” world (construction, technology and finance). I have struggled through the challenges that came with the territory. In reflection, while it has not been easy, I feel I am better off now than I was earlier in my career. Perhaps it is because of people like Sheryl and her desire to take up the fight for women in this new feminist movement. Sheryl makes a statement that in her opinion, “life decisions should be cheered on and support” regardless of whether your a man or a woman. I couldn’t agree more. She backs up this statement with the launch of what she is calling “Lean In Circles” which are online or in person communities where women gather to support one another in promoting their career aspirations. As a strong supporter of uplifting everyone and helping them to be the best at whatever they desire to be, I believe this means sometimes helping them overcome their own self-placed barriers to success. That is why I believe Connecting Pathways is our way of supporting Small Business Owners in their quest for success and hope you will decide to join us!
